LynnR here - aka Mrs. RevG III. I'm looking forward to seeing a lot more participation, sharing, and networking in this forum. I found Big Tent to be un-conducive to conversation and thus making it harder to build a community of like-minded individuals. Please feel free to introduce yourselves here, share your interests, your journey, or just a little bit about yourselves. In honor of our new community, I offer the inaugural Farmer Wave!

Hey Right back at ya Mrs.
As most of you know me from our Facebook page of the same name as well as the Big tent group, I am RevG III. I am a minister, a veteran of the U.S.N, A licensed Ham radio operator,a volunteer CERT team member in my local citizen corps and a prepper that wants to be ready for any disaster, be it man made or natural. I freely share my knowledge so that more folks can prepare themselves for the inevitable. Remember, the more people that are aware and prepared, the less you have to worry about anyone coming after your supplies when the disasters strike.
Prepping used to be standard fare, there was nothing special about it. people would grow their own food and in times of plenty, preserve their own food. If they didn't do that they simply didn't make it through the lean times or winter. If not for those basic skillsets they had back then, many of us wouldn't be around to talk about them.
With the economy the way it is these days we all need to relearn "old skills" so that we can survive uncertain times. We aren't the nut jobs that Doomsday preppers try to make us out to be. We are simply people that want to be self sufficient and able to care for our families.
I welcome you all to join in the discussions on the different boards in the different categories and share any knowledge you have and learn some new skills as well. Let's get the conversation going and make this the best prepared forum on the net. It may have started in the Puget sound of Washington, but it is universal to every other person in every other state in this country, or in the world for that matter.

Glad to have you on Board Goldigger14s,, both as a veteran and a prepper. We just scored a bunch of thrive products. About a week ago. You are a little far for meetings from the east King county area, but once we get more folks on here and more moderators I will be designating meetings in several areas all over the state. Maybe even in other states. That's outr purpose. To get everyone prepared for what's to come so we don't have to worry about those that haven't prepped..
But we will be Having Ham radio net meetings very soon. So if you're an operator message me your call sign and I'll add you in.

Hey All. I'm Caroline from Carnation. My husband and I started a 5 acre hobby farm. Currently we have bees, chickens, turkeys, and (squeeee!) our first pigs arrive today!! For some reason, don't like the term "prepper" as much as a "homesteader". Hobby wise I love crafting, and outdoors stuff (hiking, snowshoeing, etc). Some skills I'd like to learn are: hunting, fishing, butchering mammals (I do poultry already), hide tanning, veterinary skills.

Well, I've been on the site a few times, RevG III and I have conversed by electronic means, so I figured I should take the time to introduce myself - I'm Chuck (aka K7SQD), I'm a retired USN Master Chief Radioman (the Navy no longer has RM's, they've been converted to IT's - Information Technologist or something like that). I retired after 21+ years on active duty. I have had the opportunity to work in other areas of the Navy than communications and that has helped me then as well as now.
Also a retired Volunteer Fire Fighter (Batt Chief) / EMT (and EMT Instructor), General Fire Service Instructor as well as a couple other skill sets. I was a Volunteer for 20 years. Yep in this state you can retire as a Volunteer FF and even draw a pension when you're age appropriate. Trust me, it's nothing to make a living on, but anything is better than nothing.
I currently work for the Ferry System (please save your snickers and chuckles ... I'm not a vessel crewmember).
I believe that every man and woman needs to be able to take care of not only themselves, but their family in times of crisis - and it doesn't matter what the crisis is or how it came about, you need to be able to 'carry on' so to say. And that's safe in all aspects of life, roof over your head, food for your stomach, security for your person and property. Once your family is safe and if you can, charity is next, but instead of handouts, I believe knowledge and skill(s) are a better means of charity - the old adage of you can give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, you can teach a man to fish, and he can eat for his lifetime (not that I'm any stellar fisherman).
I hold a General Class Amateur Radio License and look forward to working with the "HAM Group" to establish some communications nets and drills to increase our ability to pass information and requests for assistance in times of need.

Mark here, I have a General Ham ticket, I've done a lot in the embedded systems field (computerized electronic devices of various sorts) on the hardware & software sides, pretty fair at mechanical stuff, math, rusty on fishing and hunting (varmints especially) but have a clue, I've helped train people in defensive pistol shooting at one school (which closed due to the instructor's job changing), and spent some years in search and rescue & training people for outdoors survival and self-reliance. And trained a dog as a service animal for a disabled gal, he was a great guy No green thumbs here, but I can help keep coyotes from eating your livestock & rabbits out of your carrots Still rebuilding my life after some setbacks, but, that happens. No livestock here, just 2 cats who own me (ofc.) Looking to get camping more this year, good to get into the woods

Hello, just found this site today after seeing the post about Gerard's regarding his foundry. We are also Cert, SnoVARC, Ham folks. Live in Snoqualmie. Former mechanic, carpenter, pretty handy with tools and the like. I will be posting in the water section, We have a creek that I would like to do a micro hydro installation on. Noticed some mentions of pesting and unwanted critters, airguns and pellet rifles are a hobby if I can be of assistance Thanks for the add. David K7DGJ Jeannette KG7HIO
